Hill Fort places a defensible hilltop with starting walls in or near the centre of the map, giving whichever player reaches it first a major positional advantage. The first 15 minutes are about deciding whether to fight for the hill or boom safely. Siege-heavy civs and unique-unit civs that can break fortifications shine here. Burgundians, Bohemians, and Slavs are common picks. The map rewards bold Castle Age commits over conservative boom play.
